HOK is seeking a seasoned marketing and business development professional to join the LA leadership team. You should bring outstanding client relationships, persuasive communication skills, and a track record of successful performance.

In Brief

Your mission will be to define opportunities for HOK, ensuring that the broad spectrum of leaders involved with marketing and business development are proactively seeking and securing new commissions and repeat business that are of strategic importance to both the long-term ideals of the practice and sustained success and growth.

You must be a strategic thinker who can plan at the level of larger firm and client goals and execute at a detailed level to achieve desired results. In addition, you must be able to bring people together to achieve HOK’s vision and position the firm for the future.

Role + Responsibilities

You will be a member of the LA leadership team, which is vested with responsibility for strategic, proactive marketing and business developed across all market sectors, resulting in major commissions. You will have a high level of interaction with other leaders, including subject-matter experts and marketing professionals within the LA practice and across HOK’s global organization.

Partnering with the Managing Principal and other members of the LA leadership team, you will develop compelling, differentiated strategies to build client relationships and maximize business success, enhancing HOK’s recognition in the region and targeted market sectors. You will also support the efforts of a broad range of leaders to analyze and target potential new clients, as well as new and hybrid markets — building relationships and securing new work.

You will prepare and manage the overall marketing and development plan and budget for the LA practice, developing programs with quantifiable objectives and measuring results.

Marketing

You will be responsible for leading the general marketing effort for the HOK LA practice, ensuring the continuing evolution of the firm’s marketing+development processes and materials.

You will lead the regional marketing group with responsibilities for a broad range of activities including market research and pursuits, public relations strategies, and community engagement opportunities. You will lead content strategy for client-facing materials such as proposals, presentations, and tailored project portfolios, as well as marketing/pr/media activities to support regional and firmwide branding, market positioning, and marketing/media communications.

Development

You will be actively engaged in building relationships with key clients on an ongoing basis, leveraging the firm’s expertise knowledge, contacts, and industry acumen.

Your responsibilities will include pursuing new work, shaping the funnel of new opportunities and clients, managing and producing responses to requests for qualifications and proposals, and creating compelling written content to secure major commissions.

Criteria

Ideal candidates will have experience in marketing and new business development in the AEC industry, preferably across the landscape of corporate, commercial, and institutional sectors. You should have deep relationships within those sectors and be able not only to build and maintain relationships, but also strategically define and integrate HOK’s value proposition with potential clients in those markets.

You should have an innate curiosity, a dedication to building relationships, and the confidence to collaborate with multiple team members and leaders to achieve targeted goals and objectives.
